KISAQ (Anchor)
formerly known as TÂTERAK (Little seagull) and owned by the Royal
Greenlandic Merchant Navy (KGH), sailed as a ferry amongst small villages in
South Greenland. As years went by, the home government took over the
responsibility and thereby TÂTERAK. Years later the government established,
Umiaq Line, which is today’s (governmentally owned) public and federal seaborn transportation company.
Late 1998 Anders and Ellen Pedersen acquired
TÂTERAK, rebuilt her as she is today, renamed her, and introduced her to the
chartering Business.
KISAQ's homeport today is Nuuk, the capital of Greenland. She operates from Thule to Scoresbysund (from high north, to the south and further up to the Mideast Greenland), in the summertime, while the winter (October to April) is spent from Midwest to South Greenland. KISAQ dispose of a great deal of electronically navigation, communication, safety equipment, storage and accommodation facilities which makes it and ideal tool for either tourists, companies or workforces. |
